Favorite Fall Read Alouds

Learning with Mrs. Parker is having a linky party all about favorite fall read alouds.
Well, I am never one to pass up the opportuinty to talk books, so here is my list.

1. The Dot
I love this story and the simple message that we can do anything and find inspiration anywhere.

2. Wild About Books
Well, I am wild about books, so this one just suits me.

3. Pinduli
Don't you just love Janell Cannon?  This is my favorite.

4. The Best Story
I use this to show my students how important it is to write from the heart.

5.  Chrysanthemum
Classic.

6. A Quiet Place
This is a new to my list this year.  I got the idea from Beth Newingham and plan on reading this book when introducing Reader's Workshop.

7. Wolf
Have you read this?  So cute and promotes reading in all the right ways! Love it!

8. Library Mouse
If a mouse can write a book, we can all write a book. Fabulous!

9. Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon
I just love the message from this book.

10. Wildred Gordon McDonald Partridge
First, the story here is amazing.  Second, I use this for a get to know you activity by creating memory boxes and then a writing activity by writing about one of our special objects or memories. This is a great way to kick off personal narrative.

11. Louder Lilli
I was going to stop at ten, but this one had to make the list.  This is a fun read aloud with a great message.

12. Miss Malarcky Doesn't Live in Room 12
Okay, just one more...I love this book.

What are some of your favorite books for back to school?

  5. You have some really great books on your list! I would also recommend Spaghetti in A Hot Dog Bun: Having the Courage to Be Who You Are by Maria Dismondy and Kimberly Shaw-Peterson and Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud and David Messing. I hope that you have a great school year and your students enjoy all of the books you have selected as much as you do!
