New Sunday Feature: Favorites from the Year

Two years into this blogging business and I know at least one thing...blogging during the school year is tough.  Really tough.

I take pictures of my student's work and say to myself, "If I blog about this tonight, I can get something up for _____ (insert holiday/season/month/etc.)" And.... two weeks later...ooops! Nothing is posted. The moment has passed.  The holiday is over.  So I say to myself, "Don't worry, Amanda.  Just post about it next year."

And then, guess what?  The next _____ (insert holiday/season/month/etc.) arrives, and I miss that one too.

So, I decided to start a new Sunday Feature on my blog.

Introducing..

Here is my plan. On Sundays, I will post seasonal ideas that I never got up during the year.  It will be a collection of my favorite projects, writing assignments, and more.

Now, the next question is...do y'all want to join in? Linky?

Does this happen to you too?  Do you frequently miss blogging dates and deadlines but have great October ideas to share in June? Maybe you have a great leprechaun activity but had a broken computer for the entire month of March? Perhaps a super stealth ninja squirrel hijacked your computer during November, leaving you unable to post about your favorite Turkey Day traditions? Or the elves borrowed your computer during December, but you have the best writing assignment to share?

Whatever it is... let's share now.  Let's just do it!! What do you think?  Summer is the best time to collect ideas, pin for later, and imagine all the wonderful possibilities that come with a fresh year.

So, whatcha think? Start June 30th? Linky or no? I'll post either way, but I thought others might want to join the fun and share too. Feedback please.

Enjoy your Sunday. And, don't forget to check out  Fiction Friday from this week. So many great books!

Guess what? No school tomorrow! Yahoooo!

  1. I hear what you are saying! I have so many pictures on my camera. The other day I went to download some for a graduation ceremony slide show (yes I still have another week to go) and I thought "OMG, I took those photos to put on my blog about___(insert topic)." I think a linky would be great...but that's just me. Share what you have got, that's what I say, who cares when, we still want to learn from each other right?
    Have a wonderful week!

  2. I'm in the same boat - must be all those super stealth ninja squirrels!! I had planned to catch up on all those missed opportunities over the summer, but...

Anyhoo, a linky would help keep me focused.

  3. I'm not quite in the same boat as you. Often the end of the day comes, we completed, cleaned up and gone home and I think, shoot I didn't take any pictures! BUT-I would still love to see what everyone else is doing even though I can't quite get the "take a picture of it" part down in my classroom. Maybe this year . . .

  5. I'm keen as a bean to join in with this! It's not so much that I miss the boat, but that we have different holidays at different times. Being in New Zealand, we are in the middle of our school year right now. Most of the cool winter activities come up when we are in the middle of our summer (and obviously vice versa for you American teachers!)
Being new at the blogging thing though, I've never linky partied before. Can someone please give me a crash course?

    1. Hi Erin! Wow, thanks for following from New Zealand. I see your point and this would be perfect. I can't wait to learn from you. Linking up is really easy and I hope you'll link up this Sunday. Email me if you run into any snags along the way. I'm happy to help!!

  6. Sounds like a good plan! I mean... who really recreates those great ideas shared at the holidays? I know I don't. I have to pin them and plan for the next year because let's face it... planning takes time. I don't know if I have a bunch to share yet, but if you keep up the tradition, I am sure I will. And as for no school tomorrow... I have summer school. :( But it's all good. Only half a day and I'm free.

    1. I know!! Planning does take time and I always seem to be running short on that September through June. Funny how that works! Summer is my time to ponder, prepare, and develop. Hope you'll link up. I know you have SO many amazing things to share. Good luck with summer school!
